Season of Gratitude
November 29, 2021
Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” At The Dole, our volunteers are the heart and soul of our charitable foundation.
At The Dole, we want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have stood behind us and supported us. Your help and graciousness have reached every corner of our community and ensured that the historic Dole Mansion and12-acres of property are preserved and protected for generations to come. 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the Lakeside Legacy Foundation being formed, and our charitable purpose was derived from committed citizens coming together and raising the funds to create the foundation. Protecting it from sale or potential demolition. Our founding volunteers, neighbors, donors, and sponsors have made such an impactful difference on the success of The Dole. From the Christmas decorations that adorn the halls to the tending to the trees and gardens on our grounds and helping at Music Under the Trees, The Dole would not be the same without the help from volunteers and donors.
Yearly, efforts by community members, including our Volunteer Board Leadership and Fest Committee, and longtime beer tent partners the Crystal Lake Chamber YP’s and First Congregational Church trash/security crew, work tirelessly on Lakeside Fest. Particularly in 2021 to resume the time-honored Lakeside Fest, the efforts of volunteers paid off in abundance. Volunteers sell carnival tickets, wristbands and drink tickets. They prepare the grounds for the vendors, stages, and parking. They pour beer, collect garbage, and clean up. Due to the hundreds of dedicated people and organizations, too many to name individually, the ‘21 Fest had a successful return and garnished great gains supporting our charitable cause.
There are so many areas of The Dole where volunteers make a difference, especially during our new Farmers Market+. Individuals from the community and members from the Crystal Lake Service League, Resident Partner Artists of the Dole, Women Connecting Women, and the Crystal Lake Rowing Club have volunteered making the Farmers Market+ a fun new community event.
November is a time to give thanks, and The Dole is thankful to every volunteer, donor and sponsor all year long. Without them, none of this would be possible.
In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, a day make an impact, please remember The Dole in your generosity.
